One of the most exciting times in the infancy of an expansion team is learning what the team will be called. Seattle was awarded an NHL team in December 2018 and although bits and pieces of news have been announced regarding the team staff, big news has yet to drop. Everyone has been waiting in anticipation of what the team will look like and what the team will be called.

About a month ago, GM Ron Francis announced that they hope the team name will be announced early in 2020, in either the first or second quarter of the year. At the NHL Board of Governors' meeting on Monday, the Seattle franchise's CEO and President, Tod Leiweke, announced that they hope to unveil the team name, logo and colours all at once in either February or March of 2020.
Season ticket selections began back in October and the club hopes to have all long-term commitment season ticket holders in assigned seats by the midway point of 2020, so they can begin allocating the remaining seating to general ticket sales.
