The Montreal Canadiens have announced the contract termination of a player with the AHL's Laval Rocket. The team and 23-year-old David Sklenicka mutually agreed to part ways. It is expected Sklenicka, who was never drafted, will head back to his home in the Czech Republic.
Sklenicka was on the 2nd year of a three-year entry level contract, which he signed in May of 2018. The defenseman played 75 AHL career games, all with the Rocket, recording four goals and eight assists. This season he had taken part in seven, recording a goal and two assists.
With the termination of Sklenicka's contract, the Montreal Canadiens now have 47 of the maximum of 50 contract slots filled. The team also has just over $5 million in cap space.
