Joe Thornton's punch on Petr Mrazek has been the talk of the hockey world since it happened Thursday night. During a second period scrum in the game between San Jose and Carolina, Thorton sent Canes goaltender Petr Mrazek to the ice with a straight right. Did Mrazek do a little acting on the punch? It sure looks like it. Still, it's not often that a player straight rights a goaltender during a game these days.
The punch, which you can see at the bottom of this article if you haven't already, left many wondering if Thornton might face a suspension or fine for his actions. The answer appears to be no. Kevin Kurz, who covers the Sharks for The Athletic, says he's spoken to league sources, and there will no suspension and likely no fine either. Check it out:

Thornton received four minutes of penalties on the play including a roughing and slashing minors, while Mrazek got two minutes for slashing. We're sure we'll be seeing this one in highlight packages for a while.
