Fans of the game love following <Mike Commodore on social media because he is very entertaining, but this time he took it too far with Patrik Laine.
He's never one to mince words and seems to always say what's on his mind. On this past Monday morning, he did it once more, and this time, he was targeting the newest player of the Montreal Canadiens, Patrik Laine.
The former National Hockey League defenceman, who played over 500 professional games, certainly did not hold back words when it came to criticizing the Finnish's first foray into the Habs' locker room earlier this summer. But what got him going was not Laine's presence, per se, but rather his choice of attire.
Mike Commodore really laid into Laine about his outfit that day.
"Those black-and-white spotted pants with the lime green shoes definitely did not belong in the locker room," claimed Commodore.
He went on to bash Laine even further.
Folks..I meant to comment on this weeks ago..I am trying to not to sound like an old crusty prick..but in what world is it ok to show up looking like a f*cking milking cow for your first look as a Montreal Canadiens..A COW!
- Mike Commodore Commodore clearly grew up in a more old-school generation of hockey when less was more in dressing comfortably and well. Times have certainly changed since his 2012 retirement, with the NHL now flooded with kids who carry over their individuality and unique personal style onto and off the ice, it's very clear, anyway.
Was he being too sensitive about something as harmless as fashion? Considering he himself was a bit of a character with his on-ice look during his playing days, it does sound a little hypocritical.
While Mike Commodore's comments betray a more conservative state of mind, they reveal the sportive nature of the game. As newer players make their entrance into the scene, each with fresh thinking, hockey culture is indeed changing, whether the old guard likes it or not.
