Crawford allegedly choked his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint in May, according to court documents.
The victim claims that Crawford arrived at her apartment in Houston on May 8 and "unloaded the clip" of a semi-automatic handgun before ejecting "a round of the pistol" and beginning to walk toward her holding the firearm.
He then interrogated her before threatening her with violence.
Crawford allegedly pushed the woman to the ground as she tried to leave the apartment, then he "held the gun in one hand, and used the other hand to grab her by the head and neck, while asking her how long she had been dating a male acquaintance," according to the documents.
After the woman said she had only known the male in question for a week, Crawford allegedly called her a liar and slammed her head into a wall several times.
The woman adds that she nearly passed out when Crawford was squeezing her neck, but then her one-year-old daughter appeared. That distracted Crawford long enough for her to escape. Crawford also allegedly fled the scene, but he left behind his handgun.
After the incident, Crawford continued to send her threatening text messages, saying he was paying someone to track down the other male, according to the woman.
The 38-year-old turned himself in to police on Thursday, and he is currently still in custody.
Crawford retired after 15 season in 2016. He was a four-time All-Star.
